SIP Calculator — Download, How It Works, and Safety Notes
SIP Calculator is a free Android app from Continuum App that estimates what regular monthly mutual-fund investments might grow into over time. It also covers lump-sum investing and a few related planners. This page covers what the app offers, walks through the maths behind any SIP calculator with a worked example, and notes what we could and couldn’t verify before you install it.
This page is general information, not financial advice. Calculator results are estimates based on a return rate you choose, and real returns aren’t guaranteed.

What the App Does
The app takes a monthly amount, an expected annual return and a time period, then shows the estimated maturity value and gain. Beyond the basic SIP estimate, the listing describes a lump-sum calculator, a planner that works backwards from a target amount, a history of saved plans, and export of plan details as a PDF you can share. The latest update notes mention newly added EPF, NPS and inflation-impact calculators, plus improved SWP and planner calculations.
How a SIP Calculator Actually Works
Any SIP calculator, whichever app it lives in, is applying the same compound-growth formula to a series of equal monthly payments:
Future value = P × ((1 + i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i
Here P is the monthly amount, i is the monthly rate (the annual rate divided by 12, as a decimal) and n is the number of months. This version assumes each payment is made at the end of the month. Some calculators assume the start of the month instead, which gives slightly higher figures, so it’s worth checking which convention your app uses.
A worked example. Say you invest 5,000 a month at an assumed 12% a year. That’s a monthly rate of 1%.
| Years | Total invested | Estimated value | Estimated gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 300,000 | 408,348 | 108,348 |
| 10 | 600,000 | 1,150,193 | 550,193 |
| 15 | 900,000 | 2,497,901 | 1,597,901 |
| 20 | 1,200,000 | 4,946,277 | 3,746,277 |
Two things stand out. First, the gain grows faster than the amount invested, which is the compounding effect: later years earn returns on earlier returns. Second, the result is very sensitive to the rate you assume. Keeping the same 5,000 a month for 10 years, an assumed 8% gives about 914,730, 12% gives about 1,150,193, and 15% gives about 1,376,085.
That sensitivity is the main reason to treat any calculator output as a range of possibilities, not a forecast.
Reading the Results Sensibly
- The return rate is your assumption, not something the app knows. Actual fund returns vary year to year and can be negative.
- Most simple calculators leave out fund charges, taxes and inflation, all of which reduce what you actually keep in real terms.
- Use it for comparison and planning, such as seeing how starting earlier or increasing the monthly amount changes the picture, rather than predicting a specific figure.
Ads and What Users Report
The app is ad-supported. Among the most recent reviews shown on the Play listing, several complain about how frequently ads appear, and one reviewer says a paid option meant to remove ads didn’t do so. We haven’t tested the paid option ourselves, so treat this as a report from users, not a finding. If ad frequency would bother you, that’s worth knowing before you install.
Data Practices as Declared by the Developer
In its Data safety section, the developer states that the app collects no data, shares no data with third parties, and encrypts data in transit, but also that data can’t be deleted on request. These are the developer’s own declarations. Ad-supported apps normally rely on advertising networks, so the privacy policy linked from the listing is the place to read how ads are handled.
Is It Safe to Download as an APK?
Finance and calculator apps are a favorite for lookalike clones, so verify before installing:
- Package name: it should be exactly
com.continuum.sip.calculator. Other SIP calculators exist under different names and developers. - Publisher: Continuum App on the official Play Store listing.
- Version and size: compare against the current Play Store listing.
- Permissions: a calculator doesn’t need contacts, SMS or Accessibility access. If an installer asks for these, stop.
- Play Protect: the standard sideload warning appears for any APK installed outside the Play Store. It isn’t a verdict on this file, but confirm the source first.
Our Complete Guide to APK Safety explains each check, and How to Spot a Fake or Cloned Android App covers why finance apps are frequent targets. For what we do and don’t verify on this site, see How We Verify APK Safety. If the install fails, work through How to Fix “App Not Installed” Error.
Pairing It With Other Tools
A calculator is more useful alongside a few other basics. Samsung Calculator is a good everyday companion for quick sums, Google Keep works for jotting down goals and monthly amounts, Files by Google helps you keep exported PDF plans organized, and WPS Office is handy if you want to build your own spreadsheet projection. Should You Use It?
It’s a reasonable fit if you want a quick, free way to compare SIP, lump-sum and planning scenarios and you’re fine with ads. It’s less suited to you if you want an ad-free experience, or if you need figures that account for charges, taxes and inflation in one place.
